The Report

The Women in Diplomacy Index, on which this interactive dashboard is based, is an annual report published by the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. The report tracks the percentage share of women ambassadors and permanent representatives globally.

The 2023 edition of the Women in Diplomacy Index is the fourth report and the most comprehensive so far. It builds on a first survey, which was published in 2018 and contained an overview of the ambassadorial appointments of all G20 states, and second and third surveys which were published in 2021 and 2022, expanding the dataset to 40 countries, plus the European Union (EU).
